What is a cranial orthosis

The Helios is a dynamic orthosis which requires specific adjustments to achieve the desired results. The first of these objectives should be obtaining cranial symmetry. The application of this orthosis should never change cranial growth, but only its direction.

The orthotic treatment consists in full contact in the areas were grwoth its not desirable and an expansion zone in areas where growth should occur. The critical period for the exit of the treatment is between 4 and 12 months of age, when the baby´s head is still in active growth.

 

If the baby´s head presents asymetries, we should try to find when the orthosis is not being used, safe positions so the prominences can bear the weight, ensuring the areas where we want growth not to be oppressed. The orthosis should be cleaned daily.
